Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif believes veteran all-rounders Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik, and the pace duo of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Hasnain, have been been huge flops in the ongoing World Cup.

Hafeez has fared decently with the bat as he was named Man of the Match for his knock of 84 in Pakistan’s 14-run win over England.

He followed that up with 46 runs in Pakistan’s loss to Australia.

However, he has not had much of an impact with the ball.

As for Malik, he scored eight runs against England and made a two-ball duck against Australia and a golden duck against India.

In regards to his bowling, he has only taken one wicket, which came in the match against England.

Afridi finished with figures of 2-70 in the match against Australia, while Hasnain has yet to make his World Cup debut.

“Two seniors and two juniors badly disappointed the country,” Latif told The Nation. “Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez were huge flops and the Pakistan team [are] relying heavily on these two players, while juniors Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Hasnain were also huge disappointments.

“Hasnain [hasn’t played] in World Cup matches yet, but Shaheen failed to [have] any impact.”

Pakistan’s next World Cup match will be against South Africa at Lord’s on Sunday.
