Legendary Pakistan left-arm seamer Wasim Akram has revealed that the national team made a massive selection error in dropping spinner Shadab Khan for their World Cup match against Australia on Wednesday.

Akram compared the decision to drop Shadab to Australia removing legendary spinner Shane Warne from their squad back in the day.

Akram added that Shadab is one of Pakistan’s main bowlers and admitted that he can’t understand the logic behind the decision to replace him with an extra pace bowler.

“First of all, I totally disagree with the team selection today. How can you drop Shadab?” Akram told The News International.

“It is like the Australians, the mighty Australians dropping Shane Warne. Shadab is your main bowler, he can get you wickets in the middle overs. It wasn’t a good decision to drop him.”

Pakistan lost to Australia by 41 runs and will be looking to bounce back against their arch-rivals India in Manchester on Sunday.
