Legendary Pakistan seamer Shoaib Akhtar has admitted that he feels sorry for South Africa following their disastrous start to the World Cup.

South Africa lost their World Cup opener against England by 104 runs.

They then suffered a shock 21-run loss to Bangladesh before losing their third straight game when India defeated them by six wickets.

“I feel sorry for them (South Africa). I don’t know why they are not playing well. I know they are dispersed – they have fitness issues, there is a leadership crisis – but they still could have played consistently for 50 overs. India won because of its capabilities. You will have to agree that India was a better team than South Africa,” Akhtar was quoted as saying by CricTracker.

South Africa’s next World Cup match will be against the West Indies in Southampton on Monday.
