Legendary Pakistan pace bowler Shoaib Akhtar criticised captain Sarfraz Ahmed for having a fat stomach and face.

Akhtar said he noticed how unfit Sarfraz was when the Pakistan skipper was walking out for the toss in the team’s World Cup opener against the West Indies on Friday.

In addition to his appearance, Akhtar pointed out that Sarfraz struggled while wicketkeeping.

“When Sarfraz Ahmed came for the toss, his stomach was sticking out and his face was so fat. He’s the first captain I’ve seen who is so unfit. He [was] not able to move across and he [was] struggling [while] wicketkeeping,” he was quoted as saying by CricTracker.

Pakistan were annihilated by seven wickets in their clash with the West Indies as they were skittled out for 105.

Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam were the top scorers as they both made 22 runs, while Wahab Riaz chipped in with a quickfire 18 at the end.

Mohammad Hafeez was the only other batsman to reach double figures as he made 16.

Chasing just 106 to win, the West Indies reached their target with 218 balls to spare.

Pakistan’s next match will be against hosts England in Nottingham on Monday, while the West Indies will take on Australia at the same venue on Thursday.
