Mohammad Hafeez: “Every time we come here, the first thing we get is massive support. We always feel when coming here like we’re playing at home”

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has admitted that the fans will help motivate the national team during the World Cup.

Pakistan have not been at their best in ODIs heading into the showpiece event as they were beaten 3-2 by South Africa and whitewashed 5-0 by Australia.

In their most recent ODI series against England, which consisted of five matches, they were crushed 4-0.

However, with the backing of their die-hard fans, Hafeez believes that men in green can shine at the World Cup.

“Every time we come here, the first thing we get is massive support. We always feel when coming here like we’re playing at home,” he was quoted as saying by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s website.

“The fans are very fanatic and they want us to get success. That’s what we’re here for. It’s a boost, to be honest.

“The atmosphere is always electric. As a cricketer, you always want to do well and get lots of respect.”

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on Friday.
