Pakistan all-rounder Sohail Tanvir feels that the national team have what it takes to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Tanvir added that if the men in green play well, they could even make it to the final and win the tournament for the first time since 1992.

However, Pakistan have struggled in ODIs this year as they were beaten 3-2 by South Africa, whitewashed 5-0 by Australia and crushed 4-0 by England.

Despite this, Tanvir still sees Pakistan doing well at the World Cup.

“I come back to my initial thoughts on the matter which is that with the unpredictability factor surrounding Pakistan, it is possible that they could end up winning the World Cup or on the other hand, may simply not even reach the semi-final stage,” Tanvir wrote in his blog for PakPassion. “So, predicting outcomes where Pakistan is concerned is difficult but when we talk solely about ability, then I will confidently say that they have the ability to make it to the semi-final and then to the final as well.”

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on Friday.
