Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has revealed that with left-arm seamers Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir being included in the squad and Shadab Khan being declared fit, there is no excuse for the national team not to win the World Cup.

Wahab and Amir were added to the World Cup team, along with big-hitting batsman Asif Ali.

As a result, left-arm pace bowler Junaid Khan, all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and opener Abid Ali were axed from the side.

In regards to Shadab, he was diagnosed with Hepatitis C earlier this year and while there were initially doubts that he would be fit for the World Cup, he was recently given the green light to feature at the tournament.

“Now the squad is complete! Wahab and Amir bring the experience and with Shadab joining, it will further strengthen our bowling, especially after trying various options,” Afridi said on Twitter. “Batting [is] already in good form. Now there is no excuse. Wishing everyone the best of luck, make us proud boys.”

Pakistan will play two World Cup warm-up games against Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Bristol and Cardiff on May 24 and 26 respectively.

They will then begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
