Pakistan pace bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has revealed that he is determined to play in the national team’s highly-anticipated clash with India at the World Cup.

Pakistan will play India on June 16 in Manchester, and the men in green will be looking to snap their winless streak against their arch-rivals as India have triumphed in their six World Cup meetings to date.

However, Pakistan can take confidence from the fact that they demolished India by 180 runs in the Champions Trophy final in 2017.

“Representing Pakistan at such a young age, and that too at a World Cup, is a great feeling,” Afridi told cricketpakistan.com.pk. “The entire team is putting in the hard yards and hopefully we will do well during the event.

“All the teams in the tournament are really strong but I will try to put up a good show whenever I get the opportunity. The match against India is a big one and I will give that match my best shot.”

After the ongoing five-match ODI series against England, Pakistan will play two World Cup warm-up games against Afghanistan and Bangladesh in Bristol and Cardiff on May 24 and 26 respectively.

They will then begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
