Legendary Pakistan spinner Mushtaq Ahmed has admitted that he is worried about the national team’s bowling attack going into the World Cup.

Mushtaq pointed out that Pakistan are missing someone to spearhead the pace attack as left-arm seamer Junaid Khan has not been able to fill that role.

He also admitted that the young pace duo of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Hasnain “will need guidance” during the World Cup.

“I’m not too concerned about Pakistan’s batting because there is a good blend of young and experienced players in the squad,” Mushtaq told cricketpakistan.com.pk. “But there is lack of experience in our bowling, Junaid Khan has not developed into a pace spearhead while Hasnain and Shaheen will need guidance throughout, which is why a lot will depend on how Sarfraz marshals his troops.”

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
