Ex-Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has revealed that he was actually 19 when he made his international debut in 1996.
Afridi revealed he was actually born in 1975 and that the authorities got his age wrong when he began his cricketing career.
However, Afridi’s revelation makes the situation even more confusing as he would have been 20 or 21 at the time of his first international match, which came against Kenya on October 2, 1996.
“I was just nineteen, and not sixteen like they claim when I made my debut,” Afridi wrote in his autobiography Game Changer as quoted by cricketpakistan.com.pk. “I was born in 1975. So yes, the authorities stated my age incorrectly.”
