Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan was recently diagnosed with a virus and it is understood that the cause of it was improperly sterilized dental instruments.

Shadab, who was reportedly diagnosed with Hepatitis C, has been ruled out of the limited overs series against England due to the illness.

According to The News International, Shadab underwent dental treatment at a clinic in Rawalpindi a few days before it was confirmed that he had a virus.

On April 27, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently released a statement that provided an update on Shadab, which said that he went to see “Dr Patrick Kennedy, world renowned gastroenterologist and hepatologist with a special interest in liver disease in elite sportsmen”.

The 20-year-old will rest for two weeks before undergoing more blood tests in Lahore, upon where it will be decided whether he will be fit for the World Cup.

Pakistan’s World Cup campaign begins on May 31, where they will play the West Indies in Nottingham.
