Kamran Akmal: “If you look at my stats then there are no queries as I have been performing at the domestic level”

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has lashed out at the national selectors for overlooking him for the World Cup.

Kamran, who last played international cricket in April 2017, noted that despite constantly performing on the domestic circuit, he has been snubbed by the selectors time and time again.

The 37-year-old was the second-highest scorer in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL), where he accumulated 357 runs in 13 games for the Peshawar Zalmi, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 27.46.

He followed that up with 86 runs in four matches for Punjab in the Pakistan Cup, which is a domestic 50-over competition, at an average of 21.50.

“It not only hurts you but your family too. If you look at my stats then there are no queries as I have been performing at the domestic level,” he was quoted as saying by arysports.tv.

Pakistan will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
