Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal believes that the national team are capable of winning the World Cup in England and Wales, but only if they are at their best throughout the tournament.

Should they falter however, Kamran predicted that they will “make it to the top three”.

Pakistan have not been in the best form in ODIs this year, but Kamran, who was disappointed not to be picked for the World Cup, reiterated that they have a strong team and can do well at the showpiece event.

Pakistan last won the World Cup in 1992, but they can take confidence from the fact that they won the Champions Trophy in England in 2017.

“I think the Pakistan team can make it to the top three and if they perform strongly then maybe lift the trophy,” he was quoted as saying by arysports.tv.

Pakistan will kick off their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
