Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed is backing left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir to shine during the limited overs series against England.

Amir was left out of the World Cup squad as a result of his poor form in ODIs.

Since the conclusion of the Champions Trophy in June 2017, the 27-year-old has taken five wickets in 14 matches at an average of 92.60.

However, he is part of the side for the limited overs series against England, which will consist of a one-off Twenty20 International and five ODIs, and run from May 5 to 19.

Amir also still has the chance to get into the World Cup squad as Pakistan are allowed to make changes to it without permission from the International Cricket Council (ICC) until May 23.

“Amir has an opportunity, we will rotate [the] fast bowlers against England,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying by PakPassion. “He has worked hard and is fit, he bowled well in the practice match yesterday.”
