Pakistan spinner Imad Wasim has been given extra time to pass the World Cup fitness test as he is still recovering from the recurrence of a knee injury.

Imad has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore since the conclusion of the five-match ODI series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates.

While the other 22 probables have undergone their yo-yo tests at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday, Imad has still yet to do the test.

There was speculation that he would do it on Thursday, when the Pakistan squad was announced, but his injury could hamper his chances of passing the test.

However, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials are confident that he will pass it.

Passing the yo-yo test was one of the requirements set for the list of 23 probables picked for the World Cup.

According to reports, opener Abid Ali failed to pass it, along with pace bowler Mohammad Hasnain.

However, ESPNcricinfo has reported that since the duo are newcomers to the Pakistan side, they will be given more time to prove that they can reach the benchmark set for the players.

Pakistan are set to travel to England on April 22, where they will play a limited overs series consisting of a one-off Twenty20 International and five ODIs from May 5 to 19.

The men in green will begin their World Cup campaign against the West Indies in Nottingham on May 31.
