Ramiz Raja: “The best thing about Abid Ali is that he has a pretty good technique”

Ex-Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has revealed that he would pick opener Abid Ali in his squad for the World Cup, which begins in England and Wales next month.
Abid made his international debut in the fourth ODI against Australia on March 29, where he scored a sensational 112.
However, even though he was dismissed for a golden duck in the fifth ODI, he still finished the series with an average of 56.
However, it has been reported that Abid failed the yo-yo test that all 23 players who were included in the list of probables for the World Cup had to pass.
Should this be the case, it will be the second time Abid has failed the yo-yo test as Pakistan batting coach Grant Flower confirmed that he was one of the players that didn’t pass it during the ODI series against Australia.
Despite this, Ramiz believes that Abid will fare well in the English conditions.
“The best thing about Abid Ali is that he has a pretty good technique, and I believe that he would not perform badly in English conditions, where the ball is moving, because he plays late and knows how to plan his game,” he was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder. “So, I believe that Pakistan should [take] a chance with him.”
