Pakistan chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq has revealed that new players will be given a chance to make their presence felt at the World Cup.

Inzamam’s comments come after Pakistan were whitewashed 5-0 by Australia in the recent ODI series in the United Arab Emirates.

However, many of Pakistan’s high-profile players – captain Sarfraz Ahmed, Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali – were rested for the series.

“We are ready to give some new players a chance in the World Cup because we have a balanced side with variation in the bowling which will be important in English conditions,” Inzamam was quoted as saying by PakPassion.

Inzamam added that Pakistan will be among the frontrunners to win the World Cup, which they have not won since 1992.

“I am confident we will pick a very good team for the World Cup and Pakistan will be among the favourites for the title,” he said.
