Imad Wasim took a wicket and only conceded eight runs off his four overs, while Babar Azam scored 45 as Pakistan defeated Australia by 11 runs in the second Twenty20 International in Dubai.

With Pakistan triumphing, they also secured an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan got off to a brisk start before opener Fakhar Zaman was caught behind off the bowling of Nathan Coulter-Nile for 11.

Azam and Mohammad Hafeez made up for the loss of Zaman with a 70-run partnership before Hafeez was dismissed by Billy Stanlake for a 34-ball 40, which included three boundaries and two sixes.

Azam went on to score 44, which came off 44 deliveries and included three boundaries, before he was caught by Australia captain Aaron Finch at long-off off the bowling of D’Arcy Short.

Once Azam was gone, Pakistan began to lose wickets in a hurry. As a result, they went from being 106/3 to finishing on 147/6.

Coulter-Nile was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Stanlake snapped up two and Short chipped in with one.

Chasing 148 to win, Australia lost Short early on as he was run out by Wasim for two runs.

Chris Lynn only made seven runs before he was caught by Shadab Khan at cover off the bowling of Wasim.

Shadab then removed Finch for three runs before having Mitchell Marsh caught behind for 21.

Alex Carey and Ben McDermott fell shortly after, but Glenn Maxwell and Coulter-Nile halted Pakistan’s charge with a 59-run partnership.

Maxwell ended up making 52, which came off 37 balls and included four boundaries and two sixes, before he was caught by Shoaib Malik at long-on off the bowling of Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Afridi removed Coulter-Nile for 27 two balls later, which happened to be the penultimate ball of the match, to seal the deal for Pakistan as Australia ended their innings on 136/8.

Afridi and Shadab took two wickets apiece, while Wasim and Hafeez claimed one wicket each.

Wasim was named Man of the Match.
