Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Abbas has revealed that he is excited for the upcoming Test series against Australia, but exactly how has he been preparing for it?

Abbas first pointed out that he gained useful experience during Pakistan’s tour of the United Kingdom, where he featured in the historic Test against Ireland and the two-Test series against England that followed.

Abbas was the highest wicket-taker in the Test match against Ireland with nine victims at an average of 12.22.

The 28-year-old also starred in the two-Test series against England as he was the most successful bowler again with 10 wickets to his name at an average of 14.20.

After the series against England, Abbas continued playing county cricket for Leicestershire and maintained his red-hot form with the ball.

In the nine County Championship games he has played, Abbas has claimed 40 wickets at an average of 20.85.

In addition to all this, the Sialkot native pointed out that he has been putting in the hard yards at the gym.

“Every series has its own importance and the upcoming series against Australia will be a very tough one due to the hot weather conditions in the UAE,” he told PakPassion. “In terms of preparations, I played three Tests this summer in the United Kingdom as well as quite a few first-class games for Leicestershire and I am fully fit for the next international assignments for Pakistan.

“I have been bowling long and short spells and also doing gym work with trainers and hope that I will perform well for my country in the future.”

Pakistan’s Test series against Australia begins on October 7 in Dubai.
