Mohammad Hafeez has allegedly refused to sign his contract and is even supposedly mulling over whether to retire

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is considering bringing his illustrious career to an end after he was demoted from a category A to B contract, according to media reports.

Hafeez is trying to regain his spot in the national team after he spent from time away from international cricket due to his bowling action being reported as suspicious.

Despite his action being cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC), he was the most notable player to be demoted in the list of centrally contracted players.

It is understood that the decision to demote Hafeez’s contract was taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Director Cricket Operations Haroon Rashid, Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq and Director of Academies Mudassar Nazar. It was then supposedly approved by PCB chairman Najam Sethi.

It has been reported that Hafeez has refused to sign the contract and is also mulling over making himself unavailable for any future international matches.

“Hafeez has decided to question the board why he was demoted to category B,” a source told The Express Tribune. “If he don’t get any satisfactory answers, then he is considering making himself unavailable in the future for team selection and will part ways with the national team without taking an official retirement.

“He will be talking to the board in the next two days. If their response isn’t satisfactory, then Hafeez will prove the selectors wrong through his performances in the foreign leagues.”
