Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed has lavished praise on opening batsman Fakhar Zaman following his superb performance in the recently concluded T20 tri-series.

Zaman starred in the final against Australia on Sunday as he struck a career-best 91 to help his side cruise to a six-wicket win.

Zaman was the second-highest run-scorer in the tri-series as he scored 278 runs in five matches, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 55.60 and a strike-rate of 157.06.

Given that Zaman played a crucial role in leading his team to victory, Sarfraz admitted that he sees a bright future ahead for the 28-year-old.

“Nowadays he is in the best form of his life,” Sarfraz was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. “The way he batted in the tournament it was good for us and it is good for his career. If he continues to play like this then he will definitely go up and up.

“He looks like a big game player and he is getting better day by day. He is performing on [a] consistent basis. He is performing in the big games. He performed in the ICC Champions Trophy final and scored [a] hundred. When we played against New Zealand, he scored 50-odd at [Auckland]. He then again scored 40 something [in the third T20I].”
