Zimbabwe pace bowler Kyle Jarvis could spend some time on the sidelines after he injured his hand while attempting to take a catch during his side’s T20 tri-series opener against Pakistan on Sunday.

Jarvis sustained the injury in the 14th over of the match when Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman, who scored a career-best 61, struck a delivery from Ryan Burl.

Running from wide long-on, Jarvis dived to his right in order to try and complete the catch. However, after failing to hold on to the ball, Jarvis collapsed in pain and called for medical attention, which led to Zimbabwe’s physiotherapist running out onto the field.

Jarvis was taken to the hospital for an X-ray, and it is suspected that he may have broken his right thumb.

Prior to the injury, the 29-year-old has bowled two overs, where he conceded nine runs and took the wicket of Pakistan opener Mohammad Hafeez.

Pakistan won the match by 74 runs.
