Pakistan middle-order batsman Usman Salahuddin has insisted that the national team are ready for the challenges that await them in the upcoming two-Test series against England.

Salahuddin has yet to make his Test debut, but had a strong showing in the warm-up match against Leicestershire as he scored an unbeaten 69.

While there are concerns about Pakistan struggling to get accustomed to the English conditions, Salahuddin made it clear that the team are prepared and raring to make their presence felt in the first Test, which gets underway on Thursday at Lord’s.

“We are now quite familiar with the playing conditions here, as we have been here for over a month,” he was quoted as saying by the Business Recorder. “We have already played three warm-ups and a Test match against Ireland. Now we are quite used to the conditions here.

“It was bonus for us to play here against Leicestershire as playing condition here are quite similar to London.”
