West Indies Test and ODI skipper Jason Holder will replace Kieron Pollard as captain of the Barbados Tridents for the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Holder missed the last year’s CPL due to the West Indies’ tour of England.

However, with the 26-year-old being available this time around, he is determined to turn the Tridents’ fortunes around as they finished fifth in the six-team competition with four wins in 10 games.

“I am delighted to be back at the Hero CPL for this season and I am really looking forward to making Barbados proud in 2018,” Holder was quoted as saying by the official CPL website. “We have a healthy contingent of local players in the squad this year and we are ready to make this a winning year for our home team.”

The 2018 CPL will begin on August 8 and conclude on September 16. The Trinbago Knight Riders will go into the tournament as the defending champions.
