Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir has revealed that he is determined to be the best bowler at the 2019 World Cup.

Amir is gearing up for his first-ever World Cup as he missed the 2011 and 2015 editions of the tournament after being banned for a spot-fixing scandal.

“It’s a dream for any cricketer to play in the World Cup,” he was quoted as saying by The Express Tribune. “It will be my first World Cup and I will try to do my best. It’s like a dream come true. Representing your country and playing in a big ICC tournament, one has to be lucky for all this and I consider myself just that.”

With next year’s World Cup in England and Wales fast approaching, Amir acknowledged that he is well prepared and taking all steps necessary to ensure he doesn’t suffer an injury prior to the start of the event.

“Players prepare for two to four years to play in such a big event but then get injured just before the tournament. We have a good rotation policy and that’s why I’m well prepared for the tournament,” he said.

In addition to wanting to be the best bowler in the 2019 World Cup, Amir is eager to see Pakistan come out on top and lift the coveted trophy for the first time since 1992.

“It’s such a big event. First of all I wish Pakistan win and then that I should be the best bowler in the tournament,” he said.
