Zimbabwe will host Australia and Pakistan for a T20 tri-series in July before taking on the latter in a five-match ODI series.
Zimbabwe opted not to play any Tests against the two nations, even though Australia were scheduled to play one Test, according to the Future Tours Programme, while Pakistan were supposed to face Zimbabwe in a two-Test series.
Zimbabwe will go into the series having failed to qualify for the 2019 World Cup, and having sacked captain Graeme Cremer, head coach Heath Streak and the entire coaching staff.
“Playing two of the game’s biggest teams will provide us with a very welcome litmus test as we forge ahead with our plans to develop a stronger Zimbabwe side capable of consistently competing and winning against the best,” Zimbabwe Cricket’s managing director Faisal Hasnain was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
With Zimbabwe not featuring in the 2019 World Cup, the board held a press conference on Tuesday, where they announced the resumption of domestic cricket and plans to build an academy.
