India pace bowler Mohammed Shami has admitted that all the allegations his wife has levelled against him has been “mental torture”.

Shami’s wife, Hasin Jahan, has accused him of abusing her and having extramarital affairs with numerous women.

However, once again, Shami has insisted that there is no truth behind the claims made by Jahan.

“It was a family issue. False allegations were levelled against me. It is a kind of mental torture. So, last 10-15 days were really tough for me. I am trying to come through it as soon as possible,” Shami told ANI as quoted by the Deccan Chronicle.

Jahan had also revealed that Shami had received money from Mohammed Bhai, a UK national, through a Pakistani woman, known as Alisba, in Dubai.

While this prompted the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) to call on the BCCI to conduct an investigation, the Indian cricket board found no evidence that Shami has taken part in any corrupt activities.

As a result, the 28-year-old was handed his Category B central contract, which had initially been withheld.

“As I have told you earlier, I had full faith that BCCI would give me clean chit,” he said. “I didn’t do anything wrong. I was 100 percent sure that as I have not done anything wrong, I will surely be proven innocent.”

With the BCCI having cleared his name, Shami is confident that the same outcome will arise in regards to the other allegations his wife has made.

“A lot of dirty allegations were levelled against me as well as my family which I don’t think anyone will admit,” he said. “As I have got a clean chit by the BCCI, I am hoping to come out innocent over every allegation. So, I am hopeful of not getting convicted for the offense which I have not done.

“With just few days left to the IPL, I am currently for it and aiming to start afresh. Now, the best option for me will be to go for the legal way, which will investigate the matter properly and then declare the verdict.

“I have been alleged of match-fixing and rape. The allegations are so dirty that a person could not even think of it in his dreams. There is a conspiracy behind it. There is someone who wants to bring difference in my family.”
