South Africa stand-in captain Aiden Markram was fined 20 percent of his match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during the fourth ODI against India in Johannesburg.

South Africa won the rain-affected showdown by five wickets via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method and subsequently reduced the series deficit to 3-1.

However, the Proteas were found to be one over short of their target after time allowances were taken into consideration. As a result, the rest of the squad were docked 10 percent of their match fees.

Match referee Andy Pycroft imposed the fine on the South African players, while the charge was levelled by on-field umpires Aleem Dar and Bongani Jele, third umpire Ian Gould, and fourth umpire Shaun George.

Since Markram accepted the sanction, there will be no need for a formal hearing.

However, if Markram captains South Africa in an ODI in the future and commits another over-rate offence in the next 12 months, he will be suspended.
