England all-rounder Ben Stokes expressed his delight after being cleared to play international cricket once again.

Stokes was recently charged with affray for his involvement in a street brawl outside the Mbargo nightclub in Bristol in September last year and will have to appear at Bristol Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Despite this, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) held a meeting, where they decided to permit Stokes to be eligible for selection.

Since he has been allowed to represent England again, it is likely that Stokes will feature in the forthcomingT20 tri-series, which involves England, Australia and New Zealand, and England’s upcoming tour of New Zealand.

“Representing my country is one of the greatest things that I’ve ever been lucky enough to do,” Stokes said in a statement that was published on his Twitter account. “Walking out on the field with the England shirt on is a privilege and an honour. I’m extremely delighted to be given this opportunity to do this again.

“I can’t wait to get back out on a pitch with the 3 Lions on my chest and feeling that pride that we all get and giving everything for the team.”
