Sri Lanka all-rounder Angelo Mathews will be sidelined for at least two weeks after picking up a hamstring strain.
Mathews sustained the injury when he was coming in to bowl the third ball of his third over in the second Twenty20 International against India in Indore.
He subsequently left the field without completing his over and did not return to bat either.
Sri Lanka’s team management have since diagnosed his injury as a grade one strain, which will see him miss the third and final Twenty20 International.
However, the more concerning thing is it also puts him in doubt for the start of the upcoming tour of Bangladesh.
While Mathews is likely to be out of action for two weeks, there is a possibility he may need more time to recover.
