The International Cricket Council (ICC) has cleared Sri Lanka pace bowler Shaminda Eranga’s bowling action, meaning that he is now allowed to bowl in international matches again.

Eranga’s action was found to be illegal on June 6, 2016 after it was reported following the second Test against England in May last year. He was subsequently banned from bowling on June 19.

Having fixed his action, the 31-year-old had it reassessed at the ICC-accredited testing centre in Chennai, where it was found that all his deliveries were within the 15-degree limit of flex allowed by the ICC.

On the same day Eranga was suspended from bowling in international cricket, he was hospitalised for having an elevated heartbeat. Since then, he has not played any competitive cricket.
