The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will re-open the application process for candidates interested in applying for the head coach position.

The job advertisement is likely to be put up on Saturday and those who apply will join five shortlisted candidates, which comprise of Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus and Dodda Ganesh.

Once the deadline ends on July 9, the final shortlist will be sent to the BCCI-appointed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which consists of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.

The BCCI’s decision to advertise the head coach job once again stems from the fact that they believe many people avoided sending in an application since Kumble originally re-applied for the post.

However, with Kumble having resigned as head coach, the BCCI are expecting to receive more applications.

It is understood that the board want a head coach to be chosen prior to India’s tour of Sri Lanka on July 19, but they are willing to wait if the CAC want more time to finalise their decision.
