Nawaz has represented Pakistan in three Tests, nine ODIs and five Twenty20 Internationals

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has become the latest player to be called in for questioning by the the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Nawaz was issued a notice of demand by the PCB’s security and vigilance department in regards to corruption allegations.

Nawaz’s notice of demand was issued under Article 4.3 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code, which states that the security and vigilance department can bring in any individual to give evidence that they believe could be relevant to an investigation.

However, while it is thought that Nawaz may have breached the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Code, it is unclear whether the board’s decision to bring him in for questioning has anything to do with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) corruption scandal.

In a release, the PCB said that Nawaz was given a notice of demand “in continuation of its fight against the menace of corruption in cricket”. It added that the board would not make any further comments due to the “sensitivity of the matters under question”.

It is believed that the PCB are concerned that Nawaz failed to report a potential approach.

Nawaz is the latest player to be brought into the spotlight as proceedings against Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed and Shahzaib Hassan have gotten underway. As for Mohammad Irfan, he has been suspended for a year.
