Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza was forced to rush back home from England due to a family emergency.

Mortaza was participating in the national team’s Champions Trophy preparatory camp in Sussex before travelling back to Bangladesh.

“We understand that there has been a family emergency which he (Mortaza) has to attend to,” Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said. “He has taken a leave from the camp in Sussex and has already left London for Dhaka.”

It remains unclear whether Mortaza will return for the remainder of the camp or if the family emergency will affect his participation in the Champions Trophy, which begins on June 1.
