Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson and captain David Warner smashed 77, 54 not out and 51 to guide the Sunrisers Hyderabad to a 26-run win over the Kings XI Punjab.

Kings XI skipper Glenn Maxwell would have been brooding over his decision to bowl first as Warner and Dhawan put together a 107-run partnership, during which both batsmen surpassed their half-centuries.

However, it was Maxwell who provided the breakthrough for his side as he clean bowled Warner for 51, which came off 27 balls and included four boundaries and four sixes.

The Sunrisers managed to add 40 runs to their score before Dhawan was dismissed by Mohit Sharma for 77 off 48 deliveries, which included nine boundaries and a six.

Despite Maxwell taking out Yuvraj Singh shortly after, the Sunrisers went on to make 207/3 off their 20 overs thanks to Williamson’s unbeaten knock of 54, which came off 27 balls and included four boundaries and two sixes.

Maxwell was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Sharma chipped in with one.

Chasing 208 to win, the Kings XI found themselves in trouble early on as Martin Guptill, Manan Vohra and Maxwell were removed in quick succession.

Shaun Marsh and Eoin Morgan stabilised the innings with a 73-run partnership, during which Marsh brought up his half-century, before Morgan was sent packing by Rashid Khan for 26.

After Morgan’s departure, the Kings XI began to lose wickets at regular intervals, including that of Marsh, who struck 84 off 50 balls, which included 14 boundaries and two sixes.

Rashid was named Man of the Match.
