Mohammed celebrates after leading the West Indies to victory

Jason Mohammed smashed a career-best 91 not out as the West Indies chased down their highest total in ODI history to beat Pakistan by four wickets in Guyana.

Mohammed was well supported by Ashley Nurse, who took four wickets before clubbing an unbeaten 34.

Being put in to bat first, Pakistan got off to a great start as Kamran Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad amassed an 85-run partnership before Akmal was dismissed by West Indies captain Jason Holder for 47.

Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez kept the runs flowing with a 64-run stand, during which Shehzad surpassed his half-century, before he was clean bowled by Nurse for 67, which came off 83 balls and included six boundaries.

Babar Azam fell shortly after, but Hafeez and Shoaib Malik steadied the innings with an 89-run partnership before Hafeez was removed for 88 off 92 deliveries, which included six boundaries and three sixes.

Malik ended up making 53 off 38 balls, which included six boundaries and two sixes, while skipper Sarfraz Ahmed scored a quickfire 20 not out to lead Pakistan to 308/5 off their 50 overs.

Nurse was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Holder chipped in with one.

Chasing 309 to win, West Indies opener Chadwick Walton fell for seven, but the hosts made up for it via a 68-run partnership between Evin Lewis and Kieran Powell.

Lewis went on to make 47 before being cleaned up by Hafeez, but Powell and wicketkeeper Shai Hope kept the scoreboard ticking with a 65-run stand, during which Powell registered his fifty.

However, he was unable to make the most of it as he was sent packing by Wahab Riaz for 61 off 86 balls, which included five boundaries.

Hope was on his way back to the pavilion shortly after, but despite being dealt two quick blows, the West Indies continued to take the attack to Pakistan as Mohammed and Jonathan Carter accumulated a 70-run partnership.

Once Carter was dismissed for 14 and Holder for 11, Mohammed and Nurse finished things off with an unbeaten 50-run partnership.

Mohammed ended up making 91, which came off 58 balls and included 11 boundaries and three sixes, while Nurse remained undefeated on 34 off 15 deliveries, which included five boundaries and a six.

Mohammad Amir and debutant Shadab Khan took two wickets apiece, while Hafeez and Wahab claimed one wicket each.

Mohammed was named Man of the Match.
