“I thought that was the case, but it has changed for sure”

India captain Virat Kohli has declared that his friendship with the Australian players no longer exists following a heated four-Test series.

Throughout the series, which India won 2-1, there were many occasions of on-field hostilities between the two sides.

But, prior to the first Test in Pune, Kohli pointed out that no matter what was said or done during the series, everything would be forgotten once it ended.

“I’m really good friends with all these guys off the field,” Kohli had said. “I know them really well, but I know where to draw the line of friendship.

“When you step onto the field, I could be playing against my big brother it wouldn’t matter.”

However, that no longer seems to be the case as Kohli admitted that the verbal battles he had throughout the Test series tarnished his friendship with the Australian team.

“No, it has changed,” Kohli said. “I thought that was the case, but it has changed for sure.

“As I said, in the heat of the battle you want to be competitive but I’ve been proven wrong. The thing I said before the first Test, that has certainly changed and you won’t hear me say that ever again.”
