The FIA’s investigation will be separate to that of the PCB’s

Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have launched their own investigation into the Pakistan Super League (PSL) corruption scandal.

Four players – Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Mohammad Irfan and Shahzaib Hasan – have also been placed on an exit control list by the interior ministry, meaning that they will not be allowed to leave the country.

As for Nasir Jamshed, he will remain in the United Kingdom after being arrested there. The opening batsman’s lawyer told the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that Jamshed was unable to return to Lahore.

Latif and Irfan appeared at the FIA’s office in Lahore on Monday after the agency issued a summons.

The PCB will not interfere in the FIA’s investigation, but wrote to the agency to ask for help in obtaining evidence from mobile phones that allegedly have information on them connected to the PSL corruption scandal.

“No complaint has been made by PCB to FIA to launch an investigation into players’ conduct” Subhan Ahmed, the PCB’s chief operating officer, told ESPNcricinfo. “We have simply asked FIA to certify the authenticity of the data in players’ mobile phones in PCB’s possession for submission to anti-corruption tribunal as evidence.”
