West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell could be banned for a lengthier period of time in regards to his doping whereabouts rule violation.

Russell was banned for one year in January for missing three drug tests in 2015 and failing to disclose his whereabouts. Missing three drug tests equates to a fail under the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules and regulations.

But, Jamaica’s anti-doping commission (JADCO) now wants the ban to be extended to the maximum of two years.

In fact, they have already taken the first step in trying to ensure that happens as they have filed an appeal with Jamaica’s five-member anti-doping Appeals Tribunal.

“(JADCO) has appealed,” JADCO chief executive Carey Brown told Reuters on Wednesday.
