Mukund back in Test side

Mukund has not played Test cricket since August 2011

Opening batsman Abhinav Mukund is set to play his first Test in more than five years after he was selected for the one-off Test match against Bangladesh in Hyderabad next month.

The 27-year-old, who last played Test cricket in August 2011, was in superb form in the 2016/17 Ranji Trophy as he made 849 runs, which included four centuries and three fifties, in 10 matches for Tamil Nadu at an average of 65.30.

Meanwhile, opener Murali Vijay, batsman Ajinkya Rahane, all-rounders Jayant Yadav and Hardik Pandya, and wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha have all returned to the side after sustaining injured in the five-Test series against England in November-December last year.

With Saha returning from a left thigh injury, Parthiv Patel, who featured in the last three Tests against England was left out. Batsman Manish Pandey and pace bowler Mohammed Shami suffered the same fate.

The one-off Test between India and Bangladesh will begin on February 9.
