“Unfortunately, I still have to go home on [Thursday] morning to play in the Super50 tournament”
Sydney Thunder all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite will conclude his Big Bash League (BBL) campaign after his side’s match against the Adelaide Strikers on Wednesday.
Brathwaite will head back to the Caribbean on Thursday morning in order to represent Barbados in the Regional Super50 domestic one-day tournament.
“Unfortunately, I still have to go home on [Thursday] morning to play in the Super50 tournament,” Brathwaite, who will play in Barbados’ Regional Super50 opener against Guyana on January 24, told the Daily Telegraph.
The 28-year-old was called up by the Thunder as a replacement for fellow West Indian Andre Russell, who was ruled out of the tournament after injuring his hamstring. In addition to his hamstring problem, Russell had also been struggling with a knee issue.
Brathwaite has played in two BBL matches thus far and taken five wickets. In regards to his batting, he made just six runs in the only innings he batted.
The Thunder currently sit in sixth place on the BBL standings and a victory over the Strikers on Wednesday would keep them in contention for the semi-finals.
