South Africa all-rounder David Wiese is in line to become the latest member of the national team to sign a Kolpak deal.

Wiese, who is set to join Sussex, has represented South Africa in six ODIs and 20 Twenty20 Internationals, but has failed to cement his place in either squad.

His last ODI for the Proteas came against England in February last year, while his most recent Twenty20 International appearance was at the 2016 World Twenty20.

But, with the Roodepoort native already being 31, his chances of representing his country will become increasingly limited over the next few years, especially with all the young talent coming through.

With that in mind, Wiese has told the Titans, which is the South African domestic team he plays for, that he is looking to join Sussex. However, Titans CEO Jacques Faul has made it clear that the franchise have not heard anything about whether a deal has been confirmed as of yet.

Should he join Sussex, Wiese would not be the only South African player on a Kolpak deal in the county side as batsman Stiaan van Zyl did the same thing in November last year.
