England batsman Ian Bell has inked a deal to represent the Perth Scorchers in the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League (BBL).
There is a possibility that Bell could be recalled into England’s Test team for the tours of Bangladesh and India, but until that is confirmed, he is set to be available for the entire tournament.
“The Scorchers have been a force in every season of the Big Bash,” Bell said. “I’m really excited about joining up with the team in December and making The Furnace my home ground.”
Bell represented Warwickshire in this year’s Natwest T20 Blast and finished as the fifth-highest scorer with 489 runs at a brilliant average of 40.75 and a strike-rate of 130.74.
Bell will be the second England player that the Scorchers have signed after they agreed to a deal with pace bowler Stuart Broad earlier this month. They also retained England seamer David Willey, but he will only be available for the first half of the competition due to England’s limited overs tour of India in mid-January.
