St Kitts and Patriots opener Evin Lewis hammered a spectacular 79 to lead his side to a comfortable 34-run win over the Trinbago Knight Riders.
Being put in to bat first, the Patriots got off to an excellent start as Lewis and JJ Smuts amassed a 65-run partnership before Smuts was dismissed by Sunil Narine for 16.
Lendl Simmons and captain Faf du Plessis fell soon for five and two respectively. Lewis, meanwhile, ended up making 79 off 40 balls, which included three boundaries and eight sixes, before he was removed by Narine.
Wicketkeeper Devon Thomas could only make 10 runs before he was sent packing, but the Patriots still managed to finish on 180/5 off their 20 overs courtesy of Shamarh Brooks and Jonathan Carter’s unbeaten 58-run partnership.
Brook scored 35 not out, while Carter remained undefeated on 27.
Narine was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Kevon Cooper and captain Dwayne Bravo took one wicket apiece.
Chasing 181 to win, Colin Munro, Hashim Amla and Narine were the only three batsmen to reach double figures.
Amla made a quickfire 33 before he was run out by Lewis, while Munro was the Patriots’ top-scorer with 46. Narine, meanwhile, made 19.
With none of the other batsmen having an impact, the Knight Riders fell well short of their target as they were bowled out for 146.
Krishmar Santokie and Sheldon Cottrell snapped up three wickets apiece, while Samuel Badree claimed two.
Lewis was named Man of the Match.
