Sri Lanka have dropped all-rounder Milinda Siriwardana from their ODI squad for the upcoming series against Ireland and England.
Siriwardana’s exclusion comes as a surprise, considering that he got his ODI career off to a bright start as he averaged 29.11 with the bat and 30.50 with the ball in 2015. In his most recent ODI appearances against New Zealand in December 2015-January 2016, Siriwardana made scores of 66, 12 and 39.
Sri Lanka team manager Charith Senanayake confirmed on Monday that in addition to Siriwardana, Dimuth Karunaratne, Kaushal Silva, Niroshan Dickwella and Dilruwan Perera would all be returning home.
Sri Lanka will play the first of two ODIs against Ireland on Thursday, while their ODI series against England starts next Tuesday.
