Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi took four wickets and batsman Najibullah Zadran smashed an unbeaten 60 to lead their side to a 66-run win over Hong Kong.

Opting to bowl first, Hong Kong picked up wickets at regular wickets before Afghanistan skipper Asghar Stanikzai kept Hong Kong at bay with his knock of 49, which came off 35 balls and included four boundaries and three sixes.

Zadran took over after Stanikzai’s dismissal and blasted an unbeaten 60, which came off 35 deliveries and included three boundaries and four sixes, to help Afghanistan finish on 178/7 off their 20 overs.

Aizaz Khan was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, while Hong Kong skipper Tanwir Afzal, Mark Chapman and Tanveer Ahmed chipped in with one wicket apiece.

Chasing 179 to win, Hong Kong got off to a brilliant start as Anshuman Rath and Kinchit Shah amassed a 56-run partnership before Shah was trapped lbw off the bowling of Nabi.

Shah’s dismissal sparked a major collapse and even though Rath went on to make 41 off 38 balls, which included five boundaries, his efforts weren’t enough to stop Hong Kong from being bundled out for 112.

Nabi was the most successful bowler with four wickets, while Rashid Khan and Dawlat Zadran snapped up two wickets apiece. Shapoor Zadran meanwhile claimed one wicket.
