The fourth day of the third Test between Australia and the West Indies in Sydney was abandoned without a single ball being bowled due to persistent rain.

This marked the first time in more than 25 years that two successive days of Test cricket have been washed out in Australia without any action whatsoever. The last time this occurred was during the third Test between Australia and Pakistan in Sydney in February 1990.

With the third day also having been washed out and only 68 balls bowled on the second day, Cricket Australia have announced that entry will be free on the fifth and final day.

Regardless of what happens on the final day, Australia will lift the Frank Worrell Trophy as they currently hold on to a 2-0 lead after having won the first Test in Hobart by an innings and 212 runs and the second Test in Melbourne by 177 runs.
