Sydney Sixers opener Michael Lumb smashed 63 runs and captain Moises Henriques hammered 62 to lead their side to a three-wicket win over the Melbourne Renegades.

Henriques would have been mulling over his decision to bat first initially as Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Tom Beaton all took the attack to the Sixers.

Gayle got things started with a 33-ball 46, which included three boundaries and three sixes, before Bravo and Beaton took over, with the former making 45 off 29 deliveries, which included three boundaries and two sixes, while the latter scored 41 off 23 deliveries, which included two boundaries and two sixes.

Thanks to Gayle, Bravo and Beaton, the Renegades finished on 172/4 off their 20 overs.

Henriques, Doug Bollinger, Sean Abbott and Johan Botha picked up one wicket apiece.

Chasing 173 to win, the Sixers got off to a rocky start before Lumb steered them back in the right direction with his knock of 63, which came off 35 balls and included four boundaries and five sixes.

The Sixers began to collapse after Lumb was dismissed, but Henriques led from the front and powered his side to victory with a crucial innings of 62 off 38 deliveries, which included four boundaries and two sixes.
