Sri Lanka have been dealt a major blow after it was confirmed that pace bowler Dhammika Prasad would miss the upcoming Test series against New Zealand.
Prasad suffered a back injury during the warm-up game against a New Zealand Board President’s XI in Queenstown, where he only bowled four overs. To make things worse, Prasad is unlikely to be fit for the ODI portion of the series as well.
As a result, Sri Lanka have called up uncapped left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando as Prasad’s replacement for the Test series. However, it is likely that Fernando will also take Prasad’s spot on the ODI roster.
