Ravi Shastri will continue on as India’s team director until the World Twenty20 in March next year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed.
The board has also decided to extend the contracts of India’s three assistant coaches – Sanjay Bangar, B Arun and R Sridhar – until the World Twenty20. The decision to keep the trio on board was based on the recommendations of the cricket advisory committee, which consists of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya and secretary Anurag Thakur.
“Acknowledging the performance of the Indian Cricket team and the efforts of the coaching staff in recent times, the CAC endorsed the extension of their tenure,” a BCCI release said.
